Athletes of all ability and experience levels are invited to join Coach Troy Jacobson and the staff from The Training Studio (Louisville, KY) and CYCLER'S CAFE for an enjoyable and exciting Iron-Distance triathlon training camp experience!
Whether you are participating in the Ironman Louisville race in August and wish to preview the course or if you simply want a great weekend of training and learning about triathlon this camp is for you!
Since 1995, Coach Troy has conducted dozens of camps throughout the country, hosting hundreds of athletes. His camps offer a fantastic balance of classroom time for learning the ins and outs of racing as well as training time in order to boost your fitness and move to the next level. For the Louisville Camp, he'll be teaming up with Louisville based trainer and coach, Dale Benedict and the professional fitness staff at The Training Studio.
HOST HOTEL INFORMATION Our host hotel for camp is The Galt House, downtown Louisville's only lakefront hotel and the official hotel for the Ironman Distance Louisville Race. The hotel features the state-of-the-art Club 360 Fitness Center, an outdoor swimming pool, six on-site restaurants and lounges and all within steps of Louisville's attractions like Waterfront Park, Louisville Slugger Field, Louisville Glassworks and the new Muhammad Ali Center.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS We have negotiated special group rates for your stay at The Galt House Hotel. Rates will range from $130/night for single occupancy up to $159/night for the 'Quad Rate'. For more information and to reserve your room at these special rates you must mention that you are with the Lifesports Inc / Spinervals Triathlon Camp. Contact them asap at The Galt House or call 1-800-THE GALT.
WORKOUTS Bike and Run training sessions will be conducted on the actual Ironman-Distance course to provide athletes with a preview of the race itself. We'll also be previewing the transition area. The swim training will be completed at a local pool. All workouts will be attended by several coaches as well as a roving vehicle offering mechanical and nutritional support. Please be prepared for practically any weather conditions, especially rain. Louisville in July is hot and humid so be certain to bring plenty of sunscreen and appropriate training attire.
FITNESS REQUIREMENTS FOR CAMPERS The Louisville Triathlon Camp will offer a balance of long distance endurance training and classroom instruction. We recommend that participants attend with a moderate to high level of conditioning and are able to comfortably ride in rolling terrain for four hours (or 60 miles) and can run at least 13 miles. We anticipate athletes of all ability levels to attend ranging from first time Iron distance athletes to experienced triathletes. Training groups will be determined according to fitness levels. The cycling workout on Saturday will be broken up into three groups including a 14-16 mph (average ride speed) group, a 16 - 18 mph group and an 18+ mph group. Please be prepared to choose the appropriate group for your fitness level. If you have any questions about fitness requirements for our camps, please contact us.
