Bike and Run training sessions will be conducted on the actual Ironman-Distance course to provide athletes with a preview of the race itself. We'll also be previewing the transition area. The swim training will be completed in the Ohio River. All workouts will be attended by several coaches as well as a roving vehicle offering mechanical and nutritional support. Please be prepared for practically any weather conditions, especially rain. Louisville in July is hot and humid so be certain to bring plenty of sunscreen and appropriate training attire.
FITNESS REQUIREMENTS FOR CAMPERS
The Louisville Triathlon Camp will offer a balance of long distance endurance training and classroom instruction. We recommend that participants attend with a moderate to high level of conditioning and are able to comfortably ride in rolling terrain for four hours (or 60 miles) and can run at least 13 miles. We anticipate athletes of all ability levels to attend ranging from first time Iron distance athletes to experienced triathletes. Training groups will be determined according to fitness levels. The cycling workout on Saturday will be broken up into three groups including a 14-16 mph (average ride speed) group, a 16 - 18 mph group and an 18+ mph group. Please be prepared to choose the appropriate group for your fitness level. If you have any questions about fitness requirements for our camps, please contact us.
