Ironman Lake Placid is next Sunday (July 24th) and the finishing touches are coming together in preparation for race day. I'm not that nervous yet as there is still much to do in order to prepare for the 9 hour drive and being away for 4-days.

I've decided to ride my road bike (Cervelo 2.5 carbon) for this race outfitted with disk wheel on the back and a deep dish carbon rim on the front. I decided that the road bike geometry and the carbon frame will be more comfortable for me at this race since the roads are broken up badly in spots and the course is so dang hilly! Hopefully, the decision proves to be a good one.

My taper has gone as expected and that's good. I have cut back on training, doing short 60-90 min bike rides and 30 - 40 min runs. Swimming...well, let's just say it would be hard to cut back anymore. :) I've been in a 6 year taper for swimming :)

We leave on Thursday morning and arrive up in Placid early Thursday evening, returning on Tuesday. I'll be able to check emails only a little bit so please be patient with me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

You can watch the race online at www.ironmanlive.com. I want to wish those of you doing the race the very best of luck! And also, thank you very much to those of you who have wished me good luck. I promise to give it 100% and take it as far as I can without jeopardizing my health. (That means needing just one or two IV's at the end of the race and not 3 or 4 :)

Live the Iron Life,
Coach Troy
