High Achiever Profile - Michael Cesta

Printer-Friendly Format

NAME: Michael Cesta

TOWN: Breezy Point, MN

AGE: 46

WHAT GOT YOU INTO MULTISPORT: I got into multisport for many reasons including staying fit, facing new challenges, overcoming old challenges, and as a component of lifestyle change.

YEARS OF COMPETING AND BEST (MOST REWARDING) EXPERIENCES: I have been doing multisport since 2004 and my most rewarding experience was being able to participate with a large group of triathletes in a Tucson training camp, completing a half-marathon and steadily being able to do more athletically.

HOW YOU BALANCE FAMILY, WORK and TRAINING: I have changed my work circumstances and am now working from home which allows an easy balance of work, family, and training. I try to get my training done in the early AM when possible so it does not interfere with the day. My wife and daughter are avid athletes and give a great deal of leeway to my long days of training.

YOUR 3 YEAR ATHLETIC GOALS:

  • Complete a marathon
  • Complete a half-iron man
  • Complete an Iron distance Race
  • Have a productive season with at least three races varying distances each season beginning 2008.

ADVICE FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR SIMILAR SITUATION: At my age work takes a lot of time, but one can be extremely creative in scheduling. There are many less limitation on how to restructure your life to get in serious training that you may think on the surface. Explore the options and one can find quite a healthy balance. Always best if your family can be involved with you in one way or another as it engenders interest in multisport throughout the house.
