> BEST RESULT: This one is difficult because it depends how you define
"Best" -- my fastest Ironman finish is 12:55 (7th in my age group I
think) at Coeur d'Alene in 2006 -- I was especially pleased with this as
it was 98 degrees at 4pm, so it was hot marathon! I was also quite
pleased to rank second in my age group at the Muscleman Half IM distance
in July (really I was third, but the person who won my age group was top
3 overall so they pulled her out of the age group rankings). This fall
during work stress and somewhat erratic training I won my age group in a
10K race and in that there were 100 people in my age group, so I was
quite happy with that too. Lastly, I have finished first in my age
group in several local races (but only if the really fast ladies don't
show up).> HOW DID YOU DISCOVER MULTISPORT: I decided to try a Try-a-tri (half
sprint distance) and was immediately hooked. > GOALS FOR 2008:/ I qualified for Boston in a marathon in May, so I am
registered for Boston for 2008 and also IM Lake Placid for 2008 > FAVORITE WORKOUT: Well, really I like rest days the best, but I guess
right now I am really enjoying some short, hard intervals we are doing
in the pool. Mostly, I like racing, so I do quite a few sprint distance
races through the season that end up really being tempo session in all
three sports. > BEST ADVICE FOR A BEGINNER: Put your cap on after your goggles, swim
until your fingers touch the ground and if you have finished your first
Ironman -- get to the store earlier than they say it opens, it always
opens early and they sell out of small sizes really quickly.
